Duties and responsibilities: It's estimated
that by 2030, the number of seniors 65 and over will grow by more than 75
percent to 72 million, accounting for one-fifth of the total U.S. population.
To meet the health care needs of an aging population, the Bureau of Labor
Statistics predicts the health care management field to expand by 22 percent
over the next decade, a growth rate that quickly outpaces the average U.S.
occupation.
Salary: $90,000
Education: Nursing home administrators
must have a bachelor's degree, and most hold master's degrees in health
administration or other relevant fields. Nursing home administrators are
involved in the day-to-day aspects of running a long-term care facility,
including admitting patients, managing the building, directing staff,
budgeting, accounting and financial planning. Their courses as well as instruction on healthcare
regulations and ethics.
